Welcome to my blog in which I hope I can help my wife to raise awareness of her condition Fibromyalgia and maybe go some way to helping the partners, friends and family of those suffering with the same disease to understand from 'the other side'. I'm also a sufferer of depression and would like to share my thoughts on this and the battle i've had for nearly twenty years.

Enjoy reading and please feel free to leave comments.

News from the US on new Fibro drug

Jazz Pharmaceuticals announced that the FDA has accepted for filing the New Drug Application (NDA) submitted for JZP-6 (sodium oxybate) for the treatment of fibromyalgia.

This submission includes the results of two Phase 3 clinical trials where sodium oxybate significantly decreased pain and fatigue as well as improved daily function, patient global impression of change, and sleep quality.Sodium oxybate is the sodium salt form of gamma-hydroxybutyrate, an endogenous neurotransmitter and metabolite of GABA.

While the precise mechanism of action is unknown, the effects may be mediated in part through interaction with GABA(B) and GHB receptors. For more information call (650) 496-3777 or visit jazzpharmaceuticals.com.
